Works at the construction site of the third-generation plant in Tengiz were temporarily suspended – TCO

A conversation on the inadmissibilty of the aggravation of the conflict was held with the workers of Consolidated Contracting Engineering and Procurement S.A.L Offshore (CСЕР), reports the press service of Atyrau region administration.

It is to be recalled that the conflict between Kazakhstani and foreign employees of the company engaged in contract work at Tengiz fieldhas recently become known.

“On June 29, 2019, at 11 a.m. approximately, in the Tengiz field camp, the workers of Consolidated Contracting Engineering and Procurement S. A. L Offshore gathered at the workplace and expressed their dissatisfaction with the recent publication of a citizen of Libya Eli Daoud, who put as a Whatsapp profile picture a photo that shows a girl and Eli Daoud himself, who has a radio in his hand, the antenna of which is directed towards the girl,” the press service reports.

According to the agency, officials of authorized bodies and Prosecutor of the district, as well as the Mayor of the region, heads of Police Department and Department of National Security Committee, Prosecutor of the region, employees of District Police Department arrived at the scene and ensure security.

Later in the afternoon, the press service issued another message, which says that “a conversation on the inadmissibilty of the aggravation of the conflict was held with the workers of Consolidated Contracting Engineering and Procurement S.A.L Offshore (CСЕР), the issue of workplace management at the field was discussed”.

“The Interdepartmental Commission, which in addition to state bodies will include TCO representatives, will be engaged in the study of these issues. The first Deputy Mayor of the region was instructed to head the work of the Commission”, the message says.

It is also reported that “now the workers have gone to their places, the situation is stable. TCO medical center provided medical care to 30 people, no one died.”

Meanwhile, the website of Tengizchevroil published information, which explains that “On June 29, at the construction site of the third-generation plant, there was an interpersonal conflict between workers, as a result of which several employees of contractors were injured.”

“TCO medical centers provided medical care to 30 workerswith non-life-threatening injuries. The situation is stable and TCO focuses on working closely with law enforcement and government agencies to resolve the situation and ensure the safety of workers. Worksat the construction site of the plant are temporarily suspended, worksat other TCO facilities are conducted in the normal mode. Representatives of state bodies, including police, are on the site,” the company reports.
