Drones for the oil and gas industry will be produced in Kazakhstan

The project will allow to decrease the dependence of the country on foreign producers in terms of repair and service of drones.

“Kazakhstan Aviation Industry LLP in the framework of state defense order concluded long-term contract with Elbit Systems Ltd. (Israel) on assembly, production and maintenance of drones,” reports the press service of Kazakhstan Engineering NC JSC.

In addition, they signed a license agreement on the transfer of exclusive rights on the use of the Elbit Systems Ltd. trademark in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan Aviation Industry is a joint venture of Kazakhstan Engineering NC JSC and Kamkor Management LLP that carries out maintenance, repair and modernization of aircrafts.

“This project will allow us not only to sell drones, but also to decrease the dependence on other countries in terms of repair and service of drones. Moreover, it will give us an opportunity to form local competent staff and create new workplaces,” says Chairman of the Management Board of Kazakhstan Engineering NC JSC Kuanysh Bishimov.

According to the press service, there has been a survey among potential buyers of drones in Kazakhstan, including the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Emergency Situations Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as oil and gas companies. The results of the study show that “the interest in this product is subject to the creation of domestic production and local maintenance”.

At the same time, international market analysis on the development and export of drones demonstrates sustainable growth of this product market.

KuanyshBishimov noted that the enterprise should become a major center for maintenance, repair and modernization of drones in the country. In the future, it is planned to export the Kazakhstani products.

The first delivery of the equipment, components and assemblies to produce drones is expected by the end of this year.
