NC KazMunayGas refineries processed about 20 million tons of oil in 2018

The volume of processing of hydrocarbon raw materials in the past year increased by 8.3% and amounted to more than 19.7 million tons, mainly as a result of the increase in the volume of processing at Kazakhstan’s refineries.

This figure includes processing volumes of more than 13.3 million tons at Kazakhstan’s refineries and more than 6.3 million tons at KMG International (KMGI) refineries in Romania. The total production of oil products increased by 6.7% and exceeded 18.3 million tons. The National Company KazMunayGas (KMG) reported this in its financial and operating statements for 2018.

In 2018, the volume of processing of hydrocarbon raw materials at Kazakhstan’s refineries amounted to 13 million 384 thousand tons, an increase of 10% compared to 2017, as a result of an increase in the production capacity of refineries and subsoil users’ obligation to supply oil to the domestic market.

Thus, Atyrau Oil Refinery (AOR) processed 5,268 thousand tons, an increase of 11.5%; Pavlodar Oil Chemistry Refinery (POCR) – 5,340 thousand tons, an increase of 12.5%; Shymkent Oil Refinery (PKOP) – 2,366 thousand tons (KMG share), an increase of 1%; Caspi Bitum – 409 thousand tons (KMG share), an increase of 14%.

Processing at KMGI refineries amounted to 6,331 thousand tons, which is 4.9% higher than in 2017.

The Petromidia Refinery (Romania) processed 5,925 thousand tons of oil, an increase of 4.6%; the Vega Refinery (Romania) – 406 thousand tons, an increase of 8.9%.

It is noted that the Kazakhstan’s oil refineries continue to gradually increase the depth of processing to the planned design indicators, thanks to the completion of modernization.

“In 2018, compared to 2017, there is an increase in the average processing depth from 64% to 68% at the AOR, from 77% to 79% at the POCR. The depth of processing at the PKOP for 2018 compared to the previous year remained unchanged, amounting to 74%, in connection with the completion of the modernization of the PKOP in September 2018”, – stated the KMG message.

In 2018, the volume of production of oil products increased by 6.7% and amounted to 18,337 thousand tons.

The volume of production of oil products in Kazakhstan’s refineries increased by 7.6% compared to the same period last year, up to 12,152 thousand tons, due to the increase in processing volumes:

3,288 thousand tons of gasoline, an increase of 34.9%;

3,814 thousand tons of diesel fuel, an increase of 13.0%;

253 thousand tons of jet fuel, an increase of 57.4%;

4,796 thousand tons of other oil products, a decrease of 9.8%.

The volume of production of oil products at KMGI refineries amounted to 6,185 thousand tons, which is 4.9% higher than in 2017, due to an increase in processing volumes:

1 567 thousand tons of gasoline, an increase of 7.2%;

2 755 thousand tons of diesel fuel, an increase of 0.6%;

317 thousand tons of jet fuel, an increase of 26.4%;

1,547 thousand tons of other oil products, an increase of 7.2%.

According to the results of modernization, Atyrau Oil Refinery processed a record amount of oil – 5,267 thousand tons. The production of high-octane gasoline amounted to 1 million 180 thousand tons, which is 89.4% more than in 2017.

Production of diesel fuel amounted to 1 million 459 thousand tons, which is 7.6% more than in 2017. The entire volume of production of diesel fuels and gasoline corresponded to K4 and K5 environmental classes according to the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union (Euro-4, Euro-5 standards).
