KMG International restarts operations of Petrochemical Unit at Petromidia Refinery in Romania.
The low-density polyethylene (LDPE) production unit at the Petromidia refinery, owned by KMG International, has restarted its operations.
By reintegrating the LDPE unit into the petrochemical complex of the Petromidia refinery, the company aims to strengthen its position as the only national producer of polymers in Romania.
Since the beginning of this year, the European market has seen increased demand for petrochemical products. In response, KMG International’s management has decided to restart the LDPE production unit. This step is expected to further boost KMGI’s production and financial performance, as well as help the company regain its leadership in the regional polymer market.
With a design capacity of 75,000 tons per year, the LDPE unit will begin production in May this year, supplying material used in the manufacturing of shrink film, agricultural film, thin packaging films, and durable bags.
Overall, in 2025, KMG International plans to produce over 145,000 tons of polymers.
