Petrocouncil met with new General director TCO Kevin Lyon where issues of further cooperation were discussed at the meeting. TCO and Petrocouncil noted that there is strategic interaction between parties on various issues.
TCO supports local content development.

According to Kevin Lyon, TCO stands ready to support all efforts to promote local content. Petrocouncil chairman Assylbek Jakiyev also noted that the priority area is to support Kazakhstani companies at Tengiz field. In addition, the priorities are the development of digitalization and AtyrauHub to create a digitalization ecosystem in O&G industry and development of Competence Centers under the Atyrau University of Oil and Gas. This project is aimed at the development and training of Kazakhstani personnel.


The parties noted that the procurement plan previously published by TCO demonstrated the company’s readiness to be transparent on priority issues and support of local companies.


Further, relationship between TCO’s general contractors and subcontractors were discussed. As an example, Petrocouncil named Kentech company and its management whose openness to the market and collaboration on local content was described as positive case among general contractors.

Both parties agreed that such meetings will be regular for effective cooperation.
